Golf Course Superintendent’s Update 6/23/17

I believe we made it through the hurricane rain and winds.  We ended up only receiving about 1″ of rain as of Friday.  The course sure loved the rainfall and the nitrogen that comes with it.  We used the rain days that were too wet for mowing to clean some drainage lines that were struggling to accommodate the runoff.  The greens will be getting a small solid tine aerification on Monday morning.  We hope to solid tine the greens surrounds in the afternoons on one or two days next week as well.  Your ball roll will only be slightly affected and the holes should not be visible by the end of the week.

The following tasks were accomplished this week:

  • Mowed greens 5 times
  • Mowed T,C,A 3 times
  • Mowed Fairways 3 times
  • Mowed rough twice
  • Mowed DR twice
  • Mowed Clubhouse/tennis
  • Changed pins 4 times
  • Applied granular wetting agent
  • Sprayed fairways
  • Edged irrigation heads
  • Trimmed weeds on course
  • Repaired drains on holes 1,4,7, and 9
  • Planned & prepared for replacement of pool pump
  • Applied lime on greens surrounds
  • Bush-hogged #12

Have a great weekend,

Logan H. Nesbitt, Golf Course Superintendent
