Golf Course Superintendent’s Update 5/5/17

The club got right around 2.5 inches of rain this week so far.  Once again, the course has handled the rain well for the most part.  We had to install some additional signs and posts to remind golfers of wet areas throughout the course.  One big challenge with all the rain the past several weeks has been when to spray and not risk the product getting washed off.  The fairways will have an off color appearance for a week or so due to the kyllinga herbicide being applied.

The following tasks were done this week:

  • Mowed greens 4 times
  • Mowed tees, collars, and approaches 3 times
  • Mowed fairways 3 times
  • Mowed rough twice
  • Changed pins 4 times
  • Trimmed & edged bunkers
  • Raked bunkers twice
  • Cleaned up fallen limbs and trees
  • Mowed clubhouse, DR and Tennis area
  • Bulk spread fertilizer along with trim areas
  • Sprayed fairways and DR
  • Fixed 2 irrigation problems
  • Finished adjusting heads
  • Started backpack spraying native areas with crossbow
  • Leveled 5 irrigation heads
