Golf Course Superintendent’s Update 9/1/17

Welcome to September! While the last day in August and the first day in September were identical according to the weather, the months are very different.  September signifies cooler weather, golf course aerification, the first day of fall, and pumpkin spice everything!  The 15-day forecast looks great for golf in the mountains.  Golf course aerification will start September 5th and we will be doing a pretty aggressive process this fall to ensure our surfaces continue to be great heading into winter and then spring.  The good news is that fall aerification is most always a quicker healing process than in the spring.  Warmer soil temperatures aid in the recovery process this time of year.  We apologize for the inconvenience, but the process must be done to ensure the health of each plant.

The following tasks were performed this week:

  • Mowed greens 5 times
  • Mowed T,C,A 3 times
  • Mowed fairways 3 times
  • Mowed Rough 2 times
  • Mowed DR 2 times
  • Mowed Clubhouse
  • Changed pins 3 times
  • Raked bunkers 3 times
  • Weedeated bunkers
  • Weedeated waterways
  • Sprayed fairways
  • Fertilized greens and surrounds
  • Planted fall mums
  • Mulched certain areas
  • Equipment preparation for aerification
  • Sprayed Round-up on flower beds
  • Tree cleanup

Have a great Labor Day weekend!
